What is the difference between term and permanent life insurance?
Term – A term life insurance policy offers coverage for a set period (e.g., 10, 15, or 20 years), allowing you to pay for coverage only as long as you need it — maybe until your kids are out of college or your mortgage is paid off.
Permanent – A permanent life insurance policy can offer coverage for a lifetime and has the potential to accumulate cash value that can help supplement retirement income, cover emergencies or other future expenses.
How do I know if a term or permanent policy is right for me?
The type of life insurance that’s right for you depends on many factors, including what you’re looking to protect, how long you’re looking for coverage and your budget.
A term policy allows you to set the timeframe, pay a set premium for that period and then end your coverage. Or, in some cases, you may have the option to convert to a permanent policy when your term is up if your needs have changed. Term policies are typically less expensive than a permanent policy.
A permanent policy offers protection to your family or business for your entire life. Permanent life insurance includes many different types of products, including:
Permanent policies tend to be more expensive but may build cash value as you pay your premiums. Permanent policies can also be more flexible to change as your needs change over your lifetime.
After learning more about your individual needs, an Aspire expert will be able to help you determine if a term or permanent policy is best for you.
If I have diabetes am I able to get life insurance?
People living with diabetes can get life insurance. We know diabetes does not define you. When we look at an applicant, we review your medical history, including your age, A1c levels, whether or not you smoke, and other factors that round out your individual profile. An Aspire expert will be able to walk you through the entire application process, so you know exactly to expect.
I was declined for life insurance previously, am I able to get John Hancock Aspire?
Just because you were previously declined for a life insurance policy does not mean you will not be able to get a John Hancock policy with Aspire. We know diabetes does not define you. When we look at an applicant, we review your medical history, including your age, A1c levels, whether or not you smoke, and other factors that round out your individual profile.
